Mr. Davis was born in Lancaster, Ohio on October 19, 1963. He attended The University of Arizona where he earned his B.A. in Russian Language and Soviet Studies in 1990. Mr. Davis continued his education at The University of Texas School of Law from where he received his Juris Doctor in 1991. He is licensed to practice in all Ohio state and federal courts.
Mr. Davis was a summer law clerk at Crabbe, Brown & James during the summer of 1990. After graduating from law school, he returned to Columbus and joined the firm in 1991. Mr. Davis became a partner in 1999 and concentrated his practice in all phases of right of way acquisition and pipeline consultation, civil litigation and land use. . On June 30th 2015 Mr. Davis closed the Lancaster office of Crabbe, Brown & James, but has retained an Of Counsel relationship with the firm.
On July 1st 2015 Mr. Davis became a Principal member of the Law firm of Sitterley, Vandervoort & Davis Ltd. and is serving as the Director of its Multi-state Landowner Pipeline Services Group.
ExperienceOil & Gas Litigation: Mr. Davis has been involved with complex litigation matters throughout his career. Steve has served as litigation counsel in nearly fifty pipeline right of way cases in Federal and state trial and appellate courts. During the 1999 Cardinal Pipeline project, Mr. Davis assisted in all aspects of right of way acquisition and permitting. He consulted on or handled litigation associated with acquisition, permitting and construction. Steve assisted in government relations and public relations and negotiated construction related damage claims. Mr. Davis assisted landowners in negotiating and improving terms and compensation for the installation of the 2007 Rockies Express 1,679-mile Pipeline from the Rocky Mountains to Clarington in Monroe County, Ohio; and the 2011 ATEX Express 1,230-mile from the Marcellus-Utica Shale region of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia to the Texas Gulf Coast. During the easement acquisition phase of the ATEX Express Pipeline, Steve and his co-counsel represented landowners in negotiating over 12 total miles of pipeline. Mr. Davis was a co-presenter at the Second Annual Ohio Oil and Gas Law Symposium May 25, 2012 Longaberger Golf Club, Nashport Ohio on the topic of Negotiating Pipeline Easements and Managing the Threat of Eminent Domain.
